    First, the courses are designed well and all faculty members are professional. The marketing knowledge and computer skills I have are all from my classes. Second, the myCareer centre is helpful.     Why I chose Lambton College
    To be honest, I did not know Lambton College before I came to Canada. I wanted to find a place where less Chinese lived, so there was a good English environment. I found Sarnia, and then found Lambton College. My choice turned out to be right.

    First, all professors were professional and nice. They designed useful projects and assignments which helped us to understand well. Second, the myCareer centre gave me advice on my resume, cover letter and interview, which were really essential to finding a job. Third, the International Office provided strong support. They recommend me to my current employer and offered me many suggestions.

    Try to learning more in all classes because you never know what will be used in the future. Keep touch with your professors, because they know more about the actual business world.     Overview of the work you did during your co-op work term
    Analyze the education marketing situation in China and develop appropriate advertising recommendations and promotion strategies. I apply my knowledge of integrated marketing communication and use analytical thinking and creativity in this job, as well as my Chinese background. The expected results will be a general information package and several powerpoints about the Board that are required for presentations, the brochure of the Board in education fair and schools promotion materials. I will write and edit them with a flashy and professional format, and all of them will be in both English and Chinese.

    Most rewarding aspect from your co-op work term
    First, my creativity is encouraged. A part of my work is designing the format of promotion materials, and my supervisor respects all my ideas and encourages me to imagine without limits. That’s what I want and it really gives me more confidence and control. Second, I can apply my knowledge of marketing. It gives me more practice than sitting in classroom. Third, my interpersonal skills will be improved. It is easier to get well alone with my professors and classmates in the college. However, the relationships in workplace are various, which include clients, supervisors and co-workers. So it is a good opportunity to gain the experience. Forth, I have a connection with an agent in Beijing, and I will go to the business trip in China with my supervisor. It’s a great bonus.

    Biggest challenge about your co-op work term
    First, I find that always being creative is not easy. I use different contents and expressions based on different target audiences. Second, it is really a big project when I make a chart which shows the differences among all our eleven secondary schools. I must be high level of accuracy and pay strong attention to details.

The dynamic field of Human Resources is critical in today's competitive environment. Companies now recognize that strong management of their human resources provides a competitive advantage and leads to organizational success. This program is designed to provide university and college graduates with essential business skills and a strong foundation in Human Resources. Students also complete a four-month full-time work term gaining valuable work experience and insight into the Human Resources profession.

In the first term, students complete courses that provide them with the necessary knowledge of all the major business disciplines including marketing, accounting and technology. In subsequent terms, students complete all of the courses necessary to write the Comprehensive Knowledge Exam which is required to obtain the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.

The program provides students with exposure to all areas of the Human Resources field. Students benefit from small class sizes, hands-on active learning and faculty with diverse experience in all facets of Human Resources. Partnership with the local chapter of the Human Resources Professional Association gives students an opportunity to develop their networking skills and learn about working in the profession.
