    Why I chose Lambton College

    My professors were really great. Especially Mr Gustavo. The courses helped me learn the management styles to be a good leader and also helped me understand how hotel business runs in Canada.

    My advice is to pay attention to what is taught in the class because all that knowledge comes handy when you get into a management position. Try to do your best and shine while you are at your Co-op and make yourself recognized because that will give you a great start to your career.

    I would advise new students to grasp as much knowledge as possible by taking advantage of the various opportunities available. This will help to develop their skills and they will excel in their field.

    It is also necessary to customize one’s resume for every single job, maintaining professionalism, and at same time fulfilling the requirements enlisted in the job posting.

    All professors were great and provided a lot of detailed information which was required for obtaining a good co-op placement. Lambton College provided good amount of co-op information sessions which were very helpful.

    Advice for new students to help prepare them for their co-op work term
    Adopt all important information which you receive from professors and co-op placement sessions. Don’t be nervous when facing your interview, always be positive when answering, and maintain eye contact continuously.

    Support from our instructor Gustavo Ustariz with regards to keeping us updated with job vacancies, job requirements, tuning our resumes, and preparing us for successful interviews, was a great contributor to my Co-op success. Although establishing better liaison with more hospitality organizations would be of great help to students.

    Fine tune your resume, plan in advance, offer the employer to work during holiday breaks, and apply directly to company websites.

The Hotel & Resort Management Ontario College Graduate Certificate program is designed for students intending to pursue a career in the hotel and resort industry for supervisory and management roles. Students can expect to be immersed in an innovative curriculum, formed from industry expertise and managerial skills. The content is related to the pillars of the hospitality industry, including: entrepreneurial thinking, accounting and finance, marketing and sales, food and beverage, accommodations and human resources. Courses will assist students with the knowledge and ability to transition directly into the industry at the knowledge and ability to transition directly into the industry at the conclusion of the program, with a strong understanding of the internal relationships between departments and the various business functions that drive performance in the hotel and resort industry.
