  2. Vikram

How Lambton College prepared me for my current position:
Lambton College did an amazing job in preparing me for current position. I was selected twice as the International Student Ambassador in the College. This helped me to get over the fear of talking with people. I was the General Manager for Blade Equity which helped me to gain experience on how to handle projects. In terms of studies, it was one of the best experiences. I learned lots of things from A+ to web development, flash, photography, networking, Linux and so on.

    Program: IWeb
    Graduation Year: 2012
    Current Employer: LifeLabs

    Why I chose Lambton College
In 2010 only Lambton College was offering a Post Grad option and only this college was offering the course I was looking for. I compared with other colleges too such as Georgian College in Barrie, George Brown, Sheridan College, and Humber College too but the thing I was looking for was the IT subjects I needed for future work related opportunities. Another reason I chose Lambton College was because I wanted to experience the Canadian culture which I did very well.

How Lambton College helped me achieve my goals
Lambton College, helped in lot of different ways – From studies to personal interaction. I still remember the first time I was an International Student Ambassador, I just introduced myself and just shared a few words. The second time I was more confident to speak with the new students. Today I am confident enough that I can speak with anyone. Being a Student Ambassador was very helpful in interviews and extremely effective while working with CPS (Calgary Police Service) top officers.

Advice for future Lambton College international students
My main advice for new students is to keep your goals and vision clear. From the day I was here, it was like a mission for me, that’s why at the end I was successful. No doubt there were ups and downs in life, the real deal is that we have to struggle every day and every second to achieve something. We are here to get something, to be something.
One most important thing I will say is don’t mess up your credit history. Banking institutions will offer you to have CC (Credit Card) fine have one of low limit. If your credit history is messed up it will effect in every case related to work, PR and so on. PLEASE my humble request don’t mess this thing at any cost. Every single inquiry will stay on file for 5 years to 7 years.

Second thing is, please cooperate with the instructors. They are very kind and helpful no matter what issues you have. Don’t try to be smart, and don’t break their trust.

Skilled web designers, developers and administrators are in high demand in both typical technology firms and in the increasingly broad range of non-technical fields that need a customized and professional web presence.

This program addresses this industry need by providing an intensive career-focused program that includes a mandatory co-op. Students design, build and manage the web presence for a variety of business needs based on industry standard content management systems, design tools and business practices. This program focuses on three major content areas: software development, digital media design and systems administration.

In software development, courses include programming logic, web technologies, visual design, illustration and animation. Students construct their own web servers that provide robust, customized and responsive web experiences to end-users.

In digital media design, students manage professional grade image manipulation, illustration, animation and video production software to deliver a focused media experience. Utilizing industry standard software development tools, students design and build web content for a multitude of use-cases ranging from simple business card websites to full-blown e-commerce platforms.

Students also compare real-world software development practices to create and administer platforms that host all industry software needs in the cloud. These collective skills enable graduates with the skill set needed to design and manage effectively in a variety of fields from marketing, content creation and educational technology and many graduates may find employment by establishing their own firm or undertaking freelance work.
